Descrision
English: In 2022, Bangladesh saw the worst floods in 20 nearly years. Floods caused severe bank erosion along the Padma and Meghna rivers. According to recent estimates by local authorities, more than 1,800 hectares of river banks were affected by soil erosion, and more than 10,000 houses were destroyed. This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 8 October, shows one of the worst affected areas south of the capital Dhaka. Copernicus Climate Change Service data include several parameters that can be used to model coastal erosion phenomena around the world. More details are available here.
